Great outdoor destination for hiking, biking, and scout camping site. The nearby Loop kid's playground is big, well equipped, and usually well attended. Lots if hiking trails around, with a few well marked 1+ mile long hikes. Lots if people hiking, walking dogs, biking, grilling, spending time outdoors. A couple if scouts camping areas see lots of tents every spring and fall camping season.
I have driven through the reservation numerous times but never stopped as such to enjoy its beauty. I came across the Hayrides and campfire trips offered by the nature trail center and decided to give it a try with our toddler. It was an unforgettable experience under the stars. Our daughter enjoyed the hot cocoa , marshmallows and the hayride (thoroughly). We decided to add this to our family's fall tradition going forward..
Great hiking and park for families. The trails in the main area are not too challenging so it is definitely a good place to go with kids. For more challenging trails I would recommend using one of the smaller parking lots/alternative entrances. There are large fields, a large playground, and a very good nature museum. The reservation also regularly holds events like an Earth Day celebration so be sure to look into those.
Very enjoyable walk. There are different levels of difficulty, ranging from easy walk with a stroller to difficult climbing for the very fit. Provides a great sense of isolation without traveling to far. People of all ages, animals of all sizes will enjoy the scenery and historical sites. Even when it is busy, you can find a quiet trail and just list to nature.
